It's December?

So here I am. Still in the Vegas. Boy oh boy has it been some time since i last wrote. i think you could say that a lot happened in the last five weeks. however, we're gonna keep it short. i'm a busy freelance poker player so you know... things are busy. poker has treated me very well recently. the month of november was very good. and now december is here. but before we get to those details of all that has happened here, i'm sad to say that hardman is no longer here in vegas. he peaced out to denver weeks ago. it's a bummer to not have him around, but man oh man, we had a good time here at the hostel cat. now he's watching his niece in denver, hangin with the fam, you know.
vegas has been fun. the partying definitely slows down and you no longer feel the need to meet people when they are just passing throuh, unless you all go out together for good times.
highlights this past month:    again, this is quick and dirty
-halloween parade down to freemont. wasn't that great but drinks made the night quite interesting. ended up dancing at a video arcade / club. blast. ask hardman for deets.
-limo tour down the strip
-going home for thanksgiving. so good. friends and the fam. so good.
-beer pong
-disappointing nickel beer night
-dashbocker and shliebs visited me and hardman in vegas. great fun. we took down a craps table at binions for $700. it was the first time i ever played craps.
-cirque du soleil. mystere. what a bomb show. expensive, but waaay worth it.

anywhos, that's all for now, folks.
misses and kisses.
oh, and here's a little nugget of  info, requested by mr. duquette, here is my current poker standing:
if you were to take my winnings and subract my losings the total is... im up $1,200. booya. doesn't cover all the vegas expenses. but hey, im feeling good about it.
now off to the bellagio. loves

What Happens In Vegas

so we had ourselves a good time when mikey and andrew came to visit vegas. we all stayed at the imperial palace for three nights and we got. our. roulette. on. what a mess. (a freakin hot nasty stanky mess)  i think we all ended up with positive numbers in the end, but at the end of the first night mikey was down 700 bucks between roulette and blackjack. other than that we got a lot of beverages (from bottles to cans to shots to flasks to 40oz beasts complete with shoulder straps) throughout our three days of fun. besides that we also got to see blue man group. real sweet show. lots of colors, good music. you know.
Pre blue man group we hit up Wolfgank puck for some dinner, and post group we wanted to hit up club while we were still lookin fresh. (various slacks and ties, pics to follow) As fate would have it there was a 'club' right outside the theater. After we discover we were about to get boned with cover charge to get in, we formed an alliance with the females in line with us. Upon entrance we purchased the most expensive bottle of vodka ever (250$) and lit up the hooka. It was a plesant enough time, the booze was runnin low and club losing its alure. With our even 1:1 guy girl ratio only one of us managed to really hit it off with our new friends. A short lived dancing session later the group decides to move on down the strip. The guys and girls split in taxis, (getting ditched sign #1) cut the line at the next club (they know people) (#2) and finally throwin our brother on back burner once he pays his 40 big ones to get in (#3).
Baaaaa that's really all that is going to be written tonight. now it is time for beer pong at the hostel cat. nuzzles.

Lake Mojave and the Moped Excursion

Oy vay, blog readers. If you are still reading this, thank you for your patience. it has been an entire week since the last time i wrote on the blog. i apologize for the blog neglect. but man oh man has stuff happened. So last time we left off i was ready to get me a moped, a form of transportation and freedom. so that was my next morning at hostel cat, telling people that i was looking for a moped dealership. as i at my crap breakfast brought to you by 711, this older dude named joe said that would lead me to a dealership. he had an interview to go to, but knew that it wouldn't take too long to get to and says, "it's a bit of a walk, but it's alright." so we took off. joe was on his bike and i just walked by his side. after about ten minutes we got to the place that he was talking about and he looks at the place and says, "oh, they only rent here. but that's okay i know another place." so we walk further down the strip and turned. and then we walked. forever. throughout the way i heard most of joe's life story, about his ex wife, other women, his kids that are never in contact with him, how he moved here for italy, then lived in minnesota for a couple decades, you know, the norm. by that point we had waled a good 45 minutes and i kept asking joe, "how far away is this place, man?" and he said "it's not much further." then we would keep on walking, same question to him, same answer to me. 15 effing blocks later we made the turn to get to one of the main roads that gets us to the dealership. after walking about 2 hours i questioned whether or not this guy knew where he was going. so i went into 711 to get something to drink after walking around in the sun all day and ask the cashiers if there's a dealership around. they say its in a different direction than what im told. i tell joe that im going to go that way instead and he says that he had already given up all this time to show me around blablabla. so i went with him. for some reason he was really upset that i was really upset since didn't tell me that this was going to be a threeeeee hour trek to get to the dealership.  buuut we made it. i got the moped for 800 and drove it out into the sunny city of las vegas, rode all the way down the strip from new york new york all the way down to our hostel. according to my odometer it was like a thirteen mile trip from the dealership to the hostel. thirteen miles. that's how long i followed this senile guy. thirteen miles. but hey, the moped runs like a charm. crap ton of miles to the gallon.

but enough of the trekking. the next day was byfar the best day so far in vegas. the hostel puts on some pretty sweet events. that day they were loading a bunch of people into a sketchy white, old van. we just had to pitch in money for gas and we 12 all traveled to the hoover dam and then headed off to lake mojave,  where we did a butt-ton of cliff jumping. much fun had. so we had a good two hours of travel throughout the desert. we all agreed that it was pretty beautiful. especially everybody who wasn't from the states. they don't have that kind of landscape in holland or poland. during the drive we listened to a lot of tecno music. in our sketch van. in the desert. theeeeen it was time for our first buffet. cicis pizza, six bucks. all you can eat. and that was our happy end to the evening.

coming up next blog: the boys visit for imperial palace, the roller coaster of roulette, and the tale of chasing cars.

Night #1 (I love hostels)

Last night was the first night in vegas. it was a good way to start off the evening. hardman and i peaced out from pdx for our adventure. we got outside of LAS and approached the longest line for a cab i've ever seen. but snap, we were through in minutes, greeted by an older guy who told us michael jackson jokes all the way to our hostel. our hostel is in a somewhat sketch part of town, which is basically all of vegas. we're south of the strip, basically right in the middle of the strip and downtown. we took no part in the strip last night, which ended up being an awesome choice. but we arrived to the hostel greeted by chandler, and nice guy with a handlebar mustache who took us inside. the place looked like shit at first glance. and nay, it isnt the nicest, but the people made up for it. we started off the night by meeting a couple brits, gaz and chevron. we spent all night with them. but before we could hang out hardman and i got some drank at the local 7-11. four loko to start the night, please. while inside we met this chatty kathy named kate. she chatted and chatted with us and hung out at our hostel for a couple hours before she had to go to some "work meeting" at 10:30 PM. so as she disappeared like a phantom, we played some pong with the brits, introducing them to the american college pastime. halfway through the game we met one of the dudes that works here, tim, who took us out for a good time in downtown. we checked out the giiiiant lights show out there. incredible. under those light we went into one of the casinos. great success. hardman and i both won 30 bucks playing black in roulette.
we continued wandering and found a video arcade bar. tim asked us if we all wanted to go and we all responded with a lukewarm "ehhhhhh," but he didn't really pick up on this so he responds with a "yeeeeeah, lets do this" so we went. it was so cool. we got our videogame aaand our drank on there, tim treating us to it all. but that was the end of our fun times in downtown. from there we walked and walked, listening to tim's political banter about anarchy and such shit.
but then everybody was still wanting to drank so we went back to the 7-11. as everybody went inside i stayed outside, dranking my beer that tim had bought me. as i'm minding my own business this 40-something year old woman drives up in her white sedan, asking where she could find johnny place. i say "no i just moved here today." she says "oh, where are you from? " i say "seattle" she says "oh, well you're cute seattle boy" i say "thanks" she says "ya want my number" i say while laughing "no thank you." she then drove off and i proceeded to laugh by myself in the 7-11 parking lot. i then tell hardman what just happened and our helpful clerk Lucky kindly responds to me "man, that's when you need to listen to your little brother" . tim asked him if he had ever taken advantage of such offers, and he said "yeah," then told us of his sexual excursions. gross, but funny. after the 7-11 good times we walked back to the hostel cat and chatted, listened to much more of tim's banter and at that time i knew it was time to go to bed.
now it's time to buy a moped.

Pocket Full o Dreams

So here we are. Tomorrow is the day of the big move. I am so freaking excited to get on that plane. Time here in Vancouver, USA has been great, filled with get-togethers, reunions, and parties; but i am ready to take off on that jetplane. Hardman and I arrive around 8 tomorrow night, take a shuttle to the hostel cat, and hopefully party it up with a bunch of people that we all of a sudden meet. that or i start making my fortune once we throw all our crap in a locker/room. Baaaaa let's go.
Livin' the Jet Set Zero lifestyle, baby. no job, house, or vehicle locked down yet. i'm super tempted to look that junk up online right now, but that is half the fun of it i guess. so stay tuned, peoples. the new adventure starts tomorrow. "the good stories go to those who don't give in to fear." it's true. and i am a little anxious/afraid to head down south, but ya know what, it's time for some stories, yes? plus, my ticket is already booked, and that's really all you need.

Northwest good times

Good times in the northwest indeed. Many events have taken place in the last two weeks. weird to think, but it has already been two weeks back here in the evergreen state. there have been many good times in bellingham, vancouver bc, seattle, sea tac in general, and bellingham yet agian.
highlights in bellingham: seeing the roommates again. such fun. it's been good to hang out with the dudes yet again at the north star, have some grub together, and to reunite with other friends in the bham area. but that also goes for alaska peeps as well. round one of bham times mostly consisted of hanging out with juneau friends, many of which were about to leave the northwest for a very long time.
but it all started in seattle. what a reunion. sea tac was a reunion for the books. we all met out at the arrival pick-up area. just jumping and screaming and laughing. then to pikes place market for some sharpin'. but before we got there, dash, shmashmisha, and i picked up my sister from the u district and headed out. it was great. reunion with the smifter and then hangout in the market. we mostly looked at stuff but then we got some food and drank, took some pics, checked out the gum wall, and then dispursed. shmashmisha and i met up with some peoples, ate some pizza, and then i stayed up til the wee hours of the night chatting it up with the guys at the north star. a real treat.
the next day was full of canada. we took the sky train into downtown for some shopping at h&m. cleaned that place out. best part of the day: bicycling through stanley park. what a ginormous place.

seattle:
hangout at safeco field. monday, tuesday, and wednesday. the last three games of the season. booya. so much fun. they won the first one. no more. ben, bryce, and sommers and i saw the first one, sister and i saw the second, and then all of us from juneau went to the last game of the season. so many good times that last day. again, the mariners lost buuut i did win an awesome vacation to sun river. at safeco field. they were calling out winning seats all night for these getaways and this was one of those seats. holy crap, what wonderful luck. i loved it.
after the game we went to pyramid, had some beers, and then dropped off shmecca at sea tac. there she goes to cali, then to rome.
then after that i got to reunite with many a friends from high school and even a lot of our peeps from ecuador. awesome to see how everybody was doing

back to bellingham
the time is just flying by here in the ham. so many people to see, so little time. i leave the ham in about 12 hours from now. back to the couve, where i will also have little time. time to hang out with friends and the fam.

here is the update on poker winnings / losings
winnings: $0
losings: $120

hardman and i played in a tournament at the tulalip casino just north or seattle. fail. i lost in that aaaand at a cash game. rough day. but here's hoping for better luck down in the magical city of lights, right?
oh, and i have been applying for jobs down there like crazy. got a call back from ooonnnee employer. woof. buuut it shall all work out once we get there.

The End of Alaska

Shwelp. Here we are. It's September 22, 2011 and I've started blogging. Today is also my last day in Alaska. Since June 13th I've driven buses up here in Juneau as a driver and tour guide. It's been great. Yet it ends today. Now I am taking it easy for the next three weeks hanging out with friends and family all throughout Washington and having a good old time. After that my buddy Nicholas Hardman and I will be moving to Las Vegas for a couple months of fun in the sun. I can't wait. I love poker. I love sunny weather.  So there really is no other option in where I should go. We plan on getting jobs there and returning to the northwest around Christmas time or so. Time for a new adventure, meow. And that starts so soon. Thumbs up, let's do this.
